Pet Autumn was born from a simple experience — the overwhelming, confusing, and sometimes panic-filled journey of becoming first-time pet parents in a brand new country. What started as personal notes on how to care for a rescued dog and two stray cats eventually grew into a resource built for every pet owner searching for clear, honest, and practical answers.
Pet Autumn is an independent pet care website delivering well-researched guides, breed information, nutrition advice, and everyday tips for dog and cat owners across the United States. Every article is written from real experience — not a corporate content farm, not a sponsored advertorial, but genuine advice from pet parents who’ve been through it.
Our Story
In 2019, we — Kadek Darma and Ayu Pratiwi — moved from Bali, Indonesia to Austin, Texas. Three months after arriving, we walked into a local shelter “just to look.” We walked out with Meepo, a mixed breed dog who was days away from being euthanized.
That moment changed everything. Suddenly, we needed to learn — fast. What food is safe? How do you house train in an apartment? What does pet insurance actually cover? Why does this dog eat grass at 2 AM?
A year later, Ayu rescued two cats — Luna, a quiet tabby, and Luna, a mischievous calico. Our apartment became a full house of fur, chaos, and unconditional love.
Most pet blogs we found were either too clinical, too vague, or clearly written by someone who had never actually cleaned up a 3 AM puppy accident. So we started writing our own guides — and Pet Autumn was born.
Our Vision
To become a trusted, go-to resource for dog and cat owners across the United States — providing information that is honest, practical, and genuinely helpful.
Our Mission
- To deliver accurate, well-researched guides on dog and cat care, breeds, behavior, nutrition, and health
- To correct common pet care myths and misinformation circulating on social media and forums
- To provide honest product reviews based on real-world testing — not paid endorsements
- To make pet ownership less overwhelming for first-time and experienced owners alike
- To uphold editorial honesty in every piece of content published
Our Editorial Values
| Value | What It Means |
|---|---|
| Accuracy | Every claim is verified against reputable sources — AKC, ASPCA, AVMA, and peer-reviewed veterinary research. We don’t publish guesswork. |
| Honesty | If a product is mediocre, we say so. If a breed isn’t right for apartment living, we say that too. No sugarcoating, no paid opinions. |
| Empathy | Pet owners often search in a moment of worry or confusion. Our content is designed to reassure first, then inform — never to alarm or judge. |
| Experience | Every article is shaped by real pet ownership. We write about what we’ve actually lived through with meepo, Luna , and Luna. |
| Independence | Pet Autumn is not affiliated with any pet food brand, breeder, veterinary chain, or pet store. Our recommendations are our own. |
What Does Pet Autumn Cover?
Our content spans five core areas, each focused on the everyday needs of dog and cat owners in the United States:
| Topic | Focus Area |

| Dog Breeds | Complete breed guides — temperament, size, lifespan, exercise needs, grooming, health issues, and suitability for families, apartments, and first-time owners |
| Cat Breeds | Detailed breed profiles — personality traits, grooming needs, health concerns, indoor vs outdoor suitability, and compatibility with other pets |
| Behavior & Training | Why pets do what they do — from puppy biting and cat zoomies to separation anxiety and litter box issues. Practical solutions based on positive reinforcement |
| Food & Nutrition | Feeding guides, food reviews, toxic food warnings, kibble vs raw debate, portion control, and dietary needs by breed and age |
| Health & Care | Vaccination schedules, common health issues, grooming routines, dental care, flea and tick prevention, and when to call the vet |
Our Commitment
Every article published on Pet Autumn follows a consistent editorial process:
- Topic is researched using reputable sources — AKC, ASPCA, AVMA, veterinary journals, and official guidelines from organizations like AAFCO
- Content is written by either Kadek (dog topics) or Ayu (cat topics) based on their area of experience
- Facts and figures are cross-checked before publication
- Articles are updated regularly to reflect the latest veterinary guidelines and product availability
- Reader feedback is reviewed and incorporated when it improves accuracy
Where information cannot be fully verified, a clear disclaimer is included. Where a topic involves medical concerns, readers are always directed to consult a licensed veterinarian.
In short — Pet Autumn is not a content mill. It is a pet care resource built with genuine intention, written with care, and dedicated to dog and cat owners across the United States.
